It all began in the 1980s, when some California law enforcement officers had the bright idea of wanting to apply the anti-prostitution law to the "creative" porn market. Moreover, the jury continued, "even if the behavior [Freeman] could somehow marry within the definition of 'prostitution' literally, the application of anti-pandering statute in cases of temporary hiring of actors to participate in the filming of a movie, would violate the constitution thanks to the values of the First Amendment . "
So finally overturned the conviction of Freeman, and pornography was legalized in California effectively.
